Peace through strength.

The capitulation of the US as a world power willing to use strength took a bad hit during the Obama administration and a lot of bad players took advantage of that.

I argued on this board 10 years ago that a weak US under Obama was gonna lead to numerous transgressions and the world went to shite during his administration because assholes smell weakness.

It happened.

The only antidote was hard asses.

I agree, to a point.

You can only let the dogs bark so many times and then you have to let them loose. Otherwise no one will respect them. Obama tried to be that hard arse then backed down when his red line got crossed.

Obama wasn't President 10 years ago. Oh yeah, we were in great military shape after Bush, being engaged in two wars at the same time. He should have definitely committed us to other military actions.
Let's let Trump, who is dumb as a rock, get us into more military engagements. You should be scared shitless that an impulsive, reckless moron is surrounding himself with hardline douchebags. Let's see. The last time that happened was with Bush.

This appointment might just scare the crap out of Kim/the DPRK. In the short term, that's probably a win. Not sure over the long haul though.....

Peace? Bolton? Mr. World War Three?

He wants to pre-emptively attack Iran - yesterday.

Third national security advisor in 14 months.

He wants talks first with North Korea and then use their failure to justify an attack.

His OpEd:
The legal case for attacking North Korea first

Actually, I predict we start a war when Trump feels he needs a distraction from the Mueller investigation. Hopefully, it's not WW3.

It's part of their agenda. They are putting fluoride in our water and tooth paste to pussyfy America.

Wake up people!

The capitulation of the US as a world power

Do people actually believe this? The United States was at war with Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya, wanted war with Syria and bombed 7 countries during the Obama administration. We also effectuated coups in multiple countries during his administration. The idea that we somehow failed to project our power and strength is outright laughable.

Both parties in this country want us to be at conflict perpetually in almost every corner of the globe. It is the most basic of orthodoxies in American politics yet flies in the face of the advice given by several of the Founding Fathers and early Presidents, including Washington and John Quincy Adams.

Anyone that thinks that people like Maddis and now Bolton in charge of things doesn’t give pause to the assholes of the world in a way that the limp wristed Obama crew didn’t is wanting to have the world work the way they want it to work rather than the way it actually works.

I'm not 100% sure about Bolton. He was a Bush guy. It is clear that the Bush/Clinton/Obama foreign policy was an abject failure. Exporting democracy to Muslim countries only creates Sharia states. Yeah, he is tough on North Korea, but that is a sideshow compared to the Islamic threat. If he supports a more direct intervention in Syria, I am opposed to the appointment. if he supports our alliance with Turkey, I am opposed to the appointment.
