Trump as been able to declassify anything he wanted to declassify since the day he was sworn in.
If Trump has not declassified a document, the reason he has chosen not to release the document is because it is not favorable to him.
This is fcking dumb on so many levels. First of all, does that same precedent apply for every president and politician before him that didn't "declassify everything" to back up their claims?
When has a president declassified shite to corroborate anything? Pretty sure the most well-known example to EVER exist comes from the Trump admin themselves declassifying the memo(s) to corroborate their claims, which was unheard of at the time; remember your side flipping their shite over it?
Secondly, how does him not "declassifying documents" equate to hiding or being guilty of anything? That's not how society or our justice system works AT ALL, so why does it apply here? Actually I'll answer that - because you want it to and it fits your argument today.
Why isn't anyone declassifying anything showing how Russia influenced the election for Trump, or how he's connected to Putin and the Kremlin, or ANY proof of anything Russia related? SURELY they must be hiding something in your eyes then, correct?
I'm alerting the authorities that you robbed several banks recently, I can feel it in my gut - I just know it was you. Can you provide documented proof that you haven't ever robbed a bank even though you vehemently claim you didn't? No? Then you're obviously guilty, someone get this guy in cuffs ASAP! No need for a trial, he can't submit proof it wasn't him. Case closed, amirite?
See how fricking idiotic and backwards that is?
Third, the president cannot declassify anything he wants, that's a myth perpetrated by uninformed and purposely-obtuse opposition attempting a 'gotcha' that just isn't there. The documents either have to belong to the executive branch to begin with or they have to go through an approval process for the executive branch to obtain/view them. THEN, if the president wants to declassify them, they have to go through yet another approval period and vote. He couldn't just release the memo when public outcry demanded it, remember that whole charade not even a couple months ago or are you conveniently choosing to forget?
Long story short, you're being an obtuse dumbass and I pray that no one actually thinks like this IRL.

quote:It doesn't equate to guilt in a courtroom. But, Trump is claiming he is innocent and that he is being unfairly investigated. Trump is obviously hoping to win this in the court of public opinion. So to point out to the public Trump's lack of production of exculpatory evidence isn't out of line in response to Trump's claims of innocence.

quote:Thanks for pointing that out.

The FBI documents at issue in this case, do in fact belong to the executive branch, so they can readily be declassified.
