I don't think this puts a damper on things at all. MLS beat the best team in Mexico and over all went 2 for 3 in this round against Mexican competition. Considering their previously abysmal record against Mexican competition (teams with 3x the player wages), I would say this is still time to celebrate progress for MLS.

Seattle had a ton working against them tonight. Getting results in Mexican teams is still the exception and not the rule (historically), so let's hope MLS can continue to buck the trend in the semis.

As far as tonight, the injuries obviously decimated them. They needed more speed in midfield. I think Leerdam probably should have started or at least come on earlier. I wonder how Torres' Korean is? Or Kim's Spanish?

I really think New York can beat Chivas if they keep playing like they’ve been.

Toronto will have their work cut out against America, but hey, they beat Tigres, so who knows?

It’s still been a great CCL so far for the league. We have to have at least one team make the final, though, if we ever want to earn more respect. Winning series against Mexican teams is outstanding, but we need to finally get over the hurdle and win the damn thing.

The thing about MLS and who they are, unlike all the other leagues in the world, if Toronto and NYRB can kick butt in CONCACAF, that means the whole league has potential to, and not like in Europe where only a few out of 20 teams in every league can ever be capable of winning Champions League (yes I know, can't compare too too much)
