i wonder if it a vertigo issue

This could trigger. For years I was fine with heights. Worked a lot of places with tall structures.

Few ear drum ruptures later with all the fluid the dizzy spells in high places made me a nervous wreck to climb anymore.

Total mind frick. Had to get it out of my head. Figured out the problem and had to just get out there and do it again and eventually doesn't bother you.

Still sometimes it creeps back in.

Not just you

am knocking on 50; and never have I been afraid of heights, ever - not even a smidge. Lately, I find myself terrified of heights; especially bridges. I almost passed out last week crossing the Dolly Parton bridge in Bay Minette. There has been no precipitating, tragic event. I am simply suddenly afraid of heights.

You can get over it. Just go stand as far up on a bridge as you can. Feel your fear. Feel it pass over and through you. The next day, go further up the bridge. Do the same. Fear is an emotion, it drives off the unknown. Make it known - go stand on the top of the bridge in the middle of your fear. Feel it. Then feel it slowly wash away. You can do it. Overcoming fear is one of the most beautiful parts of life

Good luck

I'm 46. I've never had an issue with heights. I've been hundreds of feet up on structures, rappelled from pretty high places, and etc. Recently, I was in a 14th floor hotel room with a balcony. When I walked out onto it, taking in the view, shite went south. I tried it again after mentally preparing; same result. It was a pretty intense feeling.

Last time I drove of that shite bridge in Lake Charles I got legit nervous. First time that's ever happened.

I say this as a structural engineer thats climbed my arse out on many rickety arse ladders on many bridges. Even been on top of one of the Mississippi River bridges.

Also flying... not the flying itself... just being on a plane. A while back, I got delayed/stuck on the plane, just sitting there for nearly 3 hours. Thought I was going to wig out and since then, I get nervous when that plane door shuts it's going to happen again.

Never thought I was either... When they said it'll be about 40 minutes I started to unravel. I was thinking it was like a CAT scan around 5 minutes. It was all I could do to hold it together in that thing.

That's how I discoverd xanax.... Doc asked me if I wanted one..... I had been in one before and hated it so took the xanax....... Nirvana. Now they have open MRIs that are much better. Had one last year on my shoulder and no problem and drug free.

I used to not be afraid of heights. Then I found myself in Paris in my mid 20’s, and suddenly the thought of taking the elevator up the Eiffel Tower terrified the hell out of me. No buildup, whatsoever. Since then I’ve been terrified of heights, but ironically Im fine hanging a tree stand 30 ft in a tree.

Been petrified of heights all my life. Welcome to the club bretheren. Anytime I’m going up escalators and shite for football games I about shite my pants. Walking up to my seat I shite my pants too. I’m always worried that someone will push me over the railing or that the railings will collapse if I lean on it...

As I march to old age I have developed a fear of running out of beer before 10pm! I also fear feet and cheese that smells like feet.

My father developed a fear of driving over bridges and 4 lane highways. Strange how it happens.
