If you want a traditional camcorder, I think Panasonic and Sony both make 4K versions.

I bought a Sony 4K before our first was born at the end of 2015 and it was under $1000. It sure they have bound to have dropped in price by then.

And tbh, while we have a ton of video from the first year, we hardly used it the second year. And I haven’t edited much of the video footage we do have. You REALLY need to make time to do that, which is hard with a toddler.
