I had zero issues on a short flight from ATL to Tampa. Bring a backpack or a small spinner. And don't order any food or drink. Problem solved.

Yeah the people bitching about the nickel and diming are hilarious. That's their business model -- it's why their tickets are so much cheaper. If you fly spirit, just don't buy the extras and travel light.
