I know it's feelings over facts for most of yall, but God hasn't been taken out of schools, at least not in the south. Conservatives chant this mantra because, strangely enough, it makes them feel better, and it leaves them and their version of government completely unaccountable for any problems in the schools that they pay for and run.
Students can, and do pray all the time in school. Outside groups come in and lead bible studies. Staff can even lead Christian clubs where attendance is optional. There are plenty of kids not afraid to pray in school, unless their parents are constantly watching FOX and being told that there is no prayer in school. How ironic?
And I love this quote from the late great Billy Graham, "I don't want to see religious bigotry in any form. It would disturb me if there was a wedding between the religious fundamentalists and the political right. The hard right has no interest in religion except to manipulate it.” May he rest in peace...
