Billy Graham was a great man - Let's remember him

My last thread (about you know who) got whacked by the invisible hand. So I'd just like to take this moment to recognize a great man of religion who sometimes involved himself in politics but did so with integrity. He was a great friend to Richard Nixon, and talked about many things in the oval office with him. I'd like to discuss some of those things, but it appears that certain topics are not allowed here.
Here's to Billy Graham.

Here's to Billy Graham.
quote:
Billy Graham, one of the most significant American evangelical voices and religious leaders of the past century, died Wednesday at the age of 99. Graham carried his message of peace and equality to millions around the world and on TV, while ministering to world leaders and acting as confidant to U.S. presidents. Hari Sreenivasan discusses Graham’s legacy with Randall Balmer of Dartmouth College.

When the tapes were made public, Graham apologized and said, "Although I have no memory of the occasion, I deeply regret comments I apparently made in an Oval Office conversation with President Nixon ... some 30 years ago. ... They do not reflect my views and I sincerely apologize for any offense caused by the remarks." According to Newsweek magazine, "[T]he shock of the revelation was magnified because of Graham's longtime support of Israel and his refusal to join in calls for conversion of the Jews."
[…] A spokesman for Graham said that Graham has never been an antisemite and that the comparison (in accord with the context of the quotation in the Book of Revelation) was directed specifically at those claiming to be Jews, but not holding to traditional Jewish values.

The Reverend Graham was truly a wonderful man. First met him in 1966 at a Christian camp (Rockmont) I was attending in Black Mountain, NC. FOUR years later, after I came back from Nam saw him again. He remembered me from Rockmont which floored me.
I'm saying now...this man was special, and put on this earth for a purpose..He will greatly be missed...not only by millions, but me especially by me.

Growing up in North La in the 70's and 80's you could bet money that if Billy Graham had an event somewhere then KNOE TV was carrying it, regardless of what they might be preempting.

Chicken??? Is there a reason the board anchored this thread? Could it be because of religious intolerance?
