It's not unprecedented, you only have to go back to the 1980s when Volcker would hike shite 5-6% over the course of a few months. Is it likely? Probably not, Fed chairs these days are a little more politically sensitive and don't have Volcker's DGAF levels. But it's not unprecedented.
