No.

I think that if some communities want gun free zones, they should have them. Why is this so hard for you to understand?

It's all about risk management. When the community decides for itself that the risk is high, they should take action. If they think the risk is extremely low, they should not. Their actions should suit the level of risk they perceive.

For the record, I don't believe in 'security' as such, just risk management.

Because gun free zones are a federal law?

Yeah, that works so well. Guess when they decide that a flaw in an airplane is too high to allow certain ones to fly? Yep, you guessed it. Right after one crashes and burns, killing a bunch of people.

So then, do nothing. Risk management is exactly what is happening now. Just accept that our kids are essentially being advertised as soft targets for anyone evil, insane, or retarded enough to pick up a gun and slaughter them. Mop up the blood and guts, and wait for it to happen again.
