I wasn't there but...
Girl I dated for the first two years of college...
saw her in the paper a couple of years later, wedding photo, full bridal gown, she'd gotten married.
Found out later that the groom had no-showed at the rehearsal dinner. Didn't call. Couldn't find him. Wedding day he called and said that he couldn't go through with it. The newspaper said that it was too late to pull the photo/announcement.

Dry weddings have to go off without a hitch. Drunk weddings that stretch long into the night have much more margin for error.
