I went to a wedding where the officiating pastor was like 80 and could barely see. He did about 1/12th of the ceremony, forgot where they were in the order of services, and then asked everyone to stand up as he announced them husband and wife. We all stood up in shock, about 4 minutes after the wedding had started.
After the whole wedding party had exited the sanctuary and the old man ft, the bride's father who is a pastor announced that he would be restarting the ceremony and doing the parts old man river forgot.
That was fun.

Was on vacation in Destin and a wedding was being held on the beach in front of our condo. The wedding seem to go off without a hitch until the groom got into it with the brides brother. No punches but a lot of shoving and yelling. The bride was white and she was marrying a Latino so I guess race and drinking had something to do with it.

It seems like people don't put much thought into the person actually officiating the wedding, but it also seems like it is a hell of a lot more important than the material stuff. Maybe it is because I am not religious and don't attend a church where a specific person is required to conduct weddings, but I feel like I'd be vetting my officiant.
I've been to weddings with senile pastors who forget what is going on, with wannabe comedian pastors who make super lame and awkward jokes during the ceremony, and with overly preachy "burn in hell" type pastors.
