I would hope most people understand this all by themselves. It's not the dollar amount, it's that the giver just obligated OP go go spend $200 to use their gift so that the giver could feel generous and classy.

You don't have to spend $200 and it certainly doesn't obligate you to go. The next time you plan a nice dinner though, hey, we have $50 off if we go here.

No they didn't... If you can't afford to supplement or just don't want to, then pass it on to someone else or sell it online. They probably thought that was a place the OP already goes to, so that would offset the cost of one of their visits.

No they don’t. He could just sit at the bar and order drinks and dessert with his SO.
There is a local very nice steak place here that is known for one of their desserts. Not unusual at all to go to their bar area and just order drinks and dessert.
