I’m an on call juror for district court from 2/26-3/9. Never have done this one. Call everyday to see if I go the next day. Would this be for one case? Or, whatever cases come up in that time frame? Just wondering if anyone had input as to how often an on call juror gets called in?

I’ve had to call in after the first day but never the whole time. Odds are they won’t need you.

I was on call for federal court for 3 months. Had to call in every Monday. Also had to watch the mail for a letter asking me to be there in X date.

Same here. I'm sure on call for those exact same dates. And when that's over. I have to report for local jury duty the next day. I'm trying to get an exemption from that one. Having to call in to check every single day for two weeks is a horrible system. Can't plan out anything at work with any degree of certainty.

Yep a new one on me. Have to call every day for the two weeks. I’ve wondered how the local jury duty vs federal worked. Or, if you could at least get consideration for having served one vs the other. I’m a nurse at a hospital in a true staffing crisis with the extremely sick public we’ve had this winter. I was told no one gets exempted for anything anymore, so I just rolled with it. I don’t mind doing jury duty at all, as it’s a hell of a lot easier day for me. Plus the $40/day is a nice raise. It’s so bad at work, that I was told there was no replacement for me, just to call in if instructed to go to duty the next day. Since this company has owned us, 10 years, I’ve called in ZERO times. If I call in for this jury duty, my employer should not be able to ding me on my yearly evaluation for it??

I was on-call for Federal court for a week this past summer. I had to call in every evening but never had to report.

No, your employer cannot hold jury duty against you in any way.

Attorneys today don't want to try anything. They'll settle.

Wrong. Just found out I have to report Monday morning at 7:45. Still can't an exemption from Parish jury duty the next week either. Screw this.
