But can I get a cliffs on the box of crayons analogy?
The OP must have recently seen the Sanford and Son episode in which Lamont gets a traffic ticket in a white neighborhood and didn't think it was worth trying to contest it though he felt he had done the right thing (i.e. run through a red light to avoid an accident). Fred wants him to fight the ticket and said something pretty close to this:
"You're a black man who gets a ticket from a policeman in a blue uniform in a white neighborhood, and it makes you so mad you see red. But you're too yellow to fight it. Now what are you, a man or a box of crayons?"
The ensuing court room scene where Lamont goes to fight the ticket is one of the funniest in the history of television.
