What is the purpose of the voting?

The purpose of voting is to express your like or dislike for a post. Nothing more. This isn’t a popularity contest where we see who has the most good or bad karma

Fair enough.
It would be good if we could sort replies to a thread based on these votes, though. Similar to Reddit, where the top comments float to the top since they are most relevant to the discussion instead of buried on page 5 of a 20 page thread.
Is that possible?

Not at all. I do not think posting should be limited based on the net up/down votes you receive. I do like the thread structure, though, which allows the user to choose how they want to sort responses and it provides additional functionality to the voting system.
