Tipping is an antiquated holdover from the Jim Crow era, when the railroads used to hire black folk for almost nothing and then argue that the passengers would tip them for handling their baggage and bringing them coffee. True story.
Tipping culture has gotten completely out of hand in the US. It took on a certain unique trajectory that doesn't exist anywhere else in the world, and it has gotten to the point of absurdity.
20% is crazy, y'all. If the labor costs that much, just add it to the costs of the meal. At least then I know the true cost of eating out and I'll do it less often.

No one is asking you to solve differential equations. If you can't ballpark what 20% of the bill is in your head then you're a moron.
