Legolas was an elf prince. His blood line, as well as that of Boromir and Aragorn, were all stouter stock than others of their race. The more you dive into Tolkien Lore the more you realize that is absolutely the case. Boromir dying is just an example of the power the One Ring has to corrupt the inhabitants of middle-earth.

Don't fault the movie for your ignorance. Legolas taking down the Oliphant is really one of the great feats of the movie. Remember how hard it was to take down the cave troll in tFOTR? Granted that was close quarters and their were hobbits to protect.

Yes they were. But i Still think this and the shield riding bit were over the top and PJ getting cute for the audience. That’s his prerogative just as it was mine not to care for it. I think it was inserted so the hero’s could have a scene when the real showstoppers should have been the ride of the Rohirrim, Éowyn taking out the Witch King (best scene in the movie) and the routing and subsequent release of the army of the dead.

No need to get snippy. It was a great hero scene but i think I’m on safe ground in saying that this was overpowered when compared to the trilogy and supporting works. It took the whole company to defeat the one cave troll, the Uruk kai chieftain took Aragorn to the wall and a whole regiment of silvan elves were taken out by orcs at helms deep - not in the books I know but still inserted in the movie.

To each his own. Just my take.
