They can pass a partial bill to pay the military, then focus on the rest of the budget. We have to cut spending. We can't continue accumulating debt.
$20 trillion at 3% interest = $600 billion paid per year in interest payments. That would fund the military for about a year. We pay this every year.
The sad news is that we have a lot of debt with low interest rates AND HAVE NOT LOCKED IN THOSE RATES.
As interest rates rise, the US will be screwed.
The interest on our debt is about the amount of our annual deficit. If we pay off our debt, then we'd be able to balance the budget. We could have a surplus some years which could be used to pay for natural disasters.
