The project has been in production since the early 90s and in 2005 was announced as a future project in the planned Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Lots of things are "in the works" but never get made. This one finally gets the final go in the last year or two. And surprise, it's all about social justice and "the struggle."

Maybe you're the one whose perception skills need work.

Where are you getting your information?

Based on the reviews, that seems to be the villain's motivation. Not the protagonist's.

Except you said this

And haven't even seen the movie. How is this film supposed to be about social justice and "the struggle" when it takes place primarily in a country that the world does not know about and features a main character who is a King.

It's also been firmly established that Black Panther was originally supposed to take on the role that Peter Parker would have played in Civil War had they not been able to acquire that character. Fortunately they didn't have to go that route, but this character was coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe no matter what.

With all due respect, have you watched it yet to make a statement like this? Were you at an advanced screening? There is no possible way you can say that without watching the movie. I'd say there is a pretty big chance it isn't about that.
