you have to play to win the game. sometimes that means passing even if you don't "trust" your QB. sometimes that means running the ball and controlling the clock. a coach, nor the fans, ever know which is best until the game is over.

it's part of what makes football a great game. auburn quit passing last year, our defense stiffened and we came back to win. auburn fans blamed their HC for "letting the foot off the gas". and a number of years ago we had a QB (Howard I believe) throw THREE pick 6's in the second half to let auburn win after we had a commanding lead. damn, we should have "let the foot off the gas".

the coach lives and dies by his decision. the fans hate the coach when the decision is wrong and they lose the game but RARELY give the coach credit when the decision turns out right.

example, I do not blame Orgeron kicking the FG in the notre dame game. it gave him the lead and one of the best defenses in college to bring the win home. it didn't work so he was crucified. if it had worked, he would not have been given credit.
