I also think you should play "to win" but people will scrutinize that decision also. I thought O should have went for the td against ND but at the same time I understood what he was thinking with the field goal. The problem with O's decision to kick a field goal was the defense had done a poor job of stopping ND on their previous possession and the defense looked tired. There are plenty of coaches that "play it safe", hell, saban is that way, he admitted in NC game he didn't like the play call at the end that led to the td for the win. Lincoln Riley did it to the heisman trophy winner in overtime. There are plenty of coaches that do that, I don't agree with it but that's the facts.

He didn't trust Guice ot the Oline on 4th and goal on the 6 inch line in the Bowl game, so there is that..........

Oh, either way can be second-guessed.

Had the Saints ran the ball in bounds on 2nd and 3rd down with less than a minute, they can take the clock all the way down, and kick a 45 yd or so FG for the win (or loss, if they miss); and no possession left for Minnesota afterwards.
