I just don't understand them in the context of today's America where they are the whipping boy for today's party that represents liberals.

#1 I don't think it's as bad as you do, though I'm not saying it doesn't exist at all
#2 What else am i supposed to do? I flat out disagree with republicans on ~80% of the issues.
