Competitive pay? Reason I ask is cuz I am wondering if cost of living in the south is worth exploring. Would love to live in New Orleans
I can't speak for the IT job market but the finance/banking fields are very competitive in Nola - very few jobs and high demand from a mix of LSU and Tulane grads with some out of state applicants mixed in. Don't see that changing anytime soon.

Cost of living is incredibly low in most areas of the state not called “Baton Rouge” or “New Orleans”. Housing prices in NOLA are insane.
