it's pvc, so it's easy to patch. carve a plug that will fit, clean the hole and the plug, then use pvc glue. wipe a goodly amount of pvc glue inside and out.
if you want to be precise, use a plug cutter to make the plug. LINK
if you want belt and suspenders, get a piece of pvc pipe to match the shape, cut a small patch and glue it on the outside.
it will never leak.

That is what I was thinking. I contacted the plumbers who did the work to take a look - they're good people. It's really going to depend on overall cost.
