My volunteer fire dept. is looking for software to help with budgeting.
Anyone have any recommendations, I have looked at quickbooks but seems kind of pricey for what we want to do. It has a lot more than we would be able to utilize.

I use Excel for budgeting. I set my own workbooks up. If you're not familiar with using the formulas, etc, there are plenty of templates available.

In your case you'd probably be best just using excel.

Thanks for the input guys. Sorry I was away for a few days and forgot to check my post.
We are using excel right now was just looking to see if there was something better out there.
We were intrigued by the ability to send and collect invoices through email with Quickbooks as sometimes collecting yearly dues can be difficulty to have everyone pay in person, but having to pay a fee for every transaction we may as well use paypal or some other for of electronic payment.
