Sure. Why not? It's actually more logically consistent--leave people's money/businesses alone, leave their personal choices alone.
Just like being a nanny-state moralist is technically more consistent.
Unfortunately, however, most Americans fall into the "do what you want with your money, but let us tell you what to drink, smoke, whom to sleep with, etc" (lots of conservatives). And the "do whatever the hell you want in your personal life, but give us half your money to piss away and let us tell you how to run your business while we're at it" (lots of liberals). So the overwhelming bulk of us hold logically inconsistent political beliefs.
