So you think there was a scarcity of black folks in the South in the mid 20th century?

This is gonna shock younger folks. But in the 1950s there were a LOT of black baseball players in the South. College ball wasn't a big thing. They signed contracts at 18 at started off in the minors.

Today, very few black HS kids play baseball and the black HSs in Shreveport don't have enough players to field a team.
