My experience was that the best leaders were often passed over by morons
I succinctly remember an E-8 that was a functional retard who somehow fathered 9 children. His only redeeming quality was that he was a joyful idiot who served as the official “Navy Dig-it” cheerleader.
He’d drive to base in an old school bus.
