I have just purchased a rifle in 6.5 Creedmoor. I want to get a suppressor for it soon. I have heard some conflicting information on the best way to do this. Some have said form a trust, others say with new laws it isn't necessary. Would anyone be able to get me started on how to proceed? TIA.

Go to Silencer Shop out of Austin and look at what they have. It would be a start. They have lots of affiliates everywhere too.

I went solo on my first suppressor, then went trust for the rest of them. The new laws that went into effect last year require everyone on the trust to be printed and photo'd. Something to consider when deciding who and how many are going to be listed on your trust.

Is the only advantage of the trust that more people can use or possess the suppressor? I would want my son to be able to have it down the road but he's just a toddler right now.

You can form a Trust and just add him to the trust whenever he will start possessing it while you're not standing right next to him.

Basically. But I believe it to be a big advantage. I like knowing that in the event of an untimely death on my part, these treasures have a succession plan. I have 4 stamps total and with the three members in our trust, there are 16 stamps total. This also makes outfitting for trips nice, as we can share or transport each others NFA items.

Biggest disadvantage is with the new legislation, we all 3 have to get fingerprinted when 1 person wants another suppressor. Not the worst thing ever.

Depending on your interpretation of "soon", you may be in for a let down.

how does that work with your local FFL. You buy and pay for the can, they get it shipped to them and hold it until your stamp comes in? Or, do you order it and wait until stamp comes in for it to actually get shipped and paid for?

You buy it and they hold it until the stamp comes in. Some dealers have what you want in stock which saves a minuscule amount of time having to order one and have it shipped to them before you can complete paperwork for it. Current wait times are close to a year, so ordering one vs. buying one in stock doesn't change a whole lot.

I'd be very surprised if that wait time estimate is actually true
