Christmas Eve is just the wife and I. I used to do a gumbo with Thanksgiving turkey leftovers (frozen of course). Lately I’ve been doing Italian. This year will be cicken parm. I’ll have some old fashioneeds and open a nice bottle from one of our Napa trips. Christmas family comes over. I usually either grill a turkey or tenderloin. This year we got a Turducken from Chris’ market. Never had one and want to try it. I’ll also do baked macaroni, mashed potatoes and gravy, biscuits and cranberry. The turducken has stuffing. I also usually bake pecan pies but feeling lazy this year. We’ll get one already made.

Quoting myself. Father in law had to check into the hospital due to blood clots in his urine. Not pleasant and he’s 99 which makes everything worse.

So Christmas Eve was scratched with wife at hopital. We shared a pre-prepared tomato soup and wheat bread sandwiches with cheese and ham when she got home around 10. I did use a sandwich maker so they were toasted and fancy. And the ham was a Spanish ham similar to prosciutto my wife got for her dad...he’s from Spain. The cheese was meant for the baked macaroni tomorrow.

At least I got my Old Fashioneds,

Turducken is now in the freezer. Tomorrow will be my Dad and me eating chicken parm with the wife and brothers in law at the hospital. Last time my fil had this he spent 15 days in the hospital. Aside from his age it wouldn’t be a big deal other than the bad pain (which I don’t want to underestimate). Hopefully we’ll eat the planned Christmas dinner on New Year’s Day after LSU plays.
