Currently sitting at home high on Vicodin from my surgery on Tuesday.
Nose is full of splints, hurts like hell, eyes wont stop watering and I have bad headaches.
Even with all that, I am glad I did it as it is getting better. I get the splints out on Wed and hope to enjoy Christmas for once being able to breath and smell with both sides of my nose.
** edit **
balloon sinuplasty
deviated septum
nasal polyp removal

I think everyone should edit and say what type of surgery they had. Makes a huge difference in what the OP might take as good advice.
Back in 2000 I had surgery to repair a deviated septum, and they did something to my turbinates to open up the blockage. I had a cast on my nose, and packing inside.
Talked to a coworker who had the balloon procedure, and their recovery was a couple of days instead of a week.
