The thing is we don't know what would've happened had Magic not played for the Lakers, the year preceding his draft Kareem averaged 24-13 on 58% shooting and that team was a playoff team maybe he still does that without him for a few more years but that's hypothetical and the synergy of those guys was pretty amazing no doubt

I can meet you in the middle like that...I think Johnson and Worthy definitely helped Kareem to the finish line. I think the ways both the Celtics and Lakers were constructed at the time helped usher in another page of a great rivalry. It was great basketball. But Johnson was definitely a formidable force and pinnacle of that team. Without him I don’t think Kareem is competing for titles. In the playoffs? Yes. Titles? No.
