Well, that's not exactly correct. During the course of the conversation(s) it was casually mentioned something about Boom having worked-with ... but then I think he realized he did it and threw a wrench in there about not necessarily having to have worked-with.

Knowing Boom's history it leads me to believe it is probably someone he has history with at the very least but, at the same time, who's to say he might not take a different path this time around and go for someone everyone else is saying is a can't miss OC?

And here's the other dynamic involved as I was told.

mUSChamp got someone who gave him a three year commitment and the contract is going to reflect that. A couple of coaches removed from consideration early were evidently looking for a stopover job on the way to a quick HC gig somewhere. I can only imagine who those two might be but evidently they also interviewed or applied for some smaller HC gigs. Boom wanted a commitment with two way buyouts. So that's all the possible hints I deduced and take'em fwiw. I guess once the announcement is made it'll all become clear.

Talking points are, "we're close ... details being worked-out ... announcement will be made soon."

Is it someone presently involved with a bowl team?

"We'll let you know when the time is right. Nothing is finalized yet."

I mean it is all typical stuff - doesn't seem to be affecting recruiting. You know, normally you can get something from a recruit or two. Not this time. JC and Kornblut and all of them are asking recruits if they've been told anything and none of them have heard a peep. So they are playing this close to the vest. Gotta hand it to mUSChamp - the man runs an incredibly tight ship.
