You don't want to do that, it won't be a perfect square because of the kerf of the sawmill blade. Four 2x2's will make a perfect square.

I've built a lot of furniture, and a straight 2x2 is like a fricking unicorn.

Glue then together and run it through a planar if you want to get the bevel off of the wood.

A planed 2x4 is actually 1.5" x 3.5"
