It's a legitimate call albeit, up until the last two years one that was seldom if ever called.

A defensive player can hold and prevent an offensive player from moving within the first 5 yards. After 5 yards he cannot. I've seen it called more this year tan I have in over 30 years of watching football

Touchy defensive holding calls like that are almost always called to bail out the offense. They hand fight and hold within 5 yards and going into breaks on EVERY damn play! If it's egregious I understand, but that touchy crap is ruining football.
