A semi auto is just as simple to use as a revolver. I have a few .357s and my wife hates to shoot them because of the recoil. She is border line scared of them, but on the other hand she can shoot any of my semi 9mm pistols like a champ. If I am giving my wife a gun to defend herself I am going with less recoil and more rounds every time.

All of this.

Small frame revolvers, like the air weight suck, they are nice to carry, but terrible to shoot. If it's something that's I'm a nightstand or similar, there is no reason to use it.

A full sized revolver is nice to have and to shoot, but they don't beat out a semi in any way for home defense. Semi autos are just as simple to fire, they hold more ammo and are just as reliable.

Whatever you chose, take the time and effort to get her comfortable with it.

Only one of these are correct. Having to operate the slide and disengage the safety is easy, but not as easy as simply pulling the trigger. Many woman have trouble racking the slide. I've also seen plenty of semi's jam in my day. Never seen a revolver jam though.

Oh, and Hornady .38 special defense rounds out of my GP100 has a recoil comparable to a heritage .22 revolver. Essentially non existent.
