then I would bet money you're experiencing the same thing I went through. Depending upon your budget you may just want to bite the bullet and replace the entire system with a much more reliable brand.

or you can simply replace them one at a time as they fail with another compatible USI, although you'd understand your replacement is just another piece of garbage that will eventually fail again.

Had this issue with the USI detectors in my house. Got them all completely replaced back in May after having the fire department out to the house to make sure there was no carbon monoxide in the house at 5am. A large # of me neighbors also had to replace theirs. Ours is a new neighborhood with many of the houses less than 3 years old. It was so bad that the store the builders purchased them from stopped carrying the detectors and offered full refunds. I replaced batteries and even took one with me for a ride in the car with a new battery and still got the carbon monoxide alarm.

USI Model #MICN109 was the one giving us all problems. Go look at the reviews on Amazon and you'll see similar complaints. Cheap Chinese crap. We haven't had any issues since replacing them with First Alert units.

Sounds like it's the product, so these steps may not matter. But, might be worth a shot.

1. Turn off the power to the smoke detector at your circuit breaker.

2. Remove the detector from its mounting bracket and unplug the power supply.

3. Remove the battery from the smoke detector.

4. With the battery removed, press and hold the test button for 15-20 seconds.

5. Replace the new battery in the detector and plug in the power supply.

6. Restore power to the circuit breaker.

7. Reattach the breaker to mounting bracket.

Look for another one nearby.

I had this happen to me. Changed the battery. No dice.

I finally bought a replacement......STILL chirped (WTF? right?)

I found one on the other side of the door and tucked kinda behind so I didn't know it was there. It was within about 3 feet of the "chirp". Sure enough, changed THAT battery and it all stopped.

The sound was DEFINITELY coming from the location of the original. I found the explanation online somewhere and it was correct.
