Like I said, they both knew there was little chance of them peeling off Moore supporters. Moore was going to get his ~30% of the vote, regardless. Neither of them could count on that, so they had to go after each other. Strange just did so more aggressively.

And had the audacity to ask for his endorsement after.
If I was Strange in that scenario, I would've left Brooks alone and let him make the decision himself.
Pressuring him would just piss him off and get him to endorse Moore and that's exactly what happened.
