Roy Moore is 70.

Best case scenario for him would only be two terms as he would be pushing 85 if he tried for a third.

Richard Shelby is still going strong at 83. It wouldn't shock me if Moore followed suit at that age.

Hopefully for Alabama's sake, there will be a contested primary in 2020 after Roy Moore inevitably embarrasses himself enough times.

We have 20+ years of Moore embarrassing himself and the state, yet here we are. His supporters don't care and unfortunately they make up a plurality of the primary voters.

This is why I don't get why Republicans squeamish on Moore, don't just vote for Jones knowing they can easily beat him in 2020. It's only 2 years he holds the seat, and the chances of him being able to singularly impact the abortion issue in any way is nil. That issue seems to be the only one a lot of them mention.

Not talking about the Moore supporters, or the party loyalists that simply don't want a D to win. Talking just about the informed R voters that don't like Moore. There's probably enough of them to turn the election.

It seems like every election he's won, it's always the other candidates completely fricking it up and Moore is somehow able to sneak in to the win himself while the other candidates are still brawling it out.

But still there's something to be said about the national stage like the senate being a bigger platform and his every step and action being more amplified and I hope that works into primarying him in 2020.
