Good luck to anyone who takes that job. It’s a alum base that is largely not local, students couldn’t care less, stadium is falling apart albeit a great stadium, the neighborhood hates game day traffic when people do attend games and one of the hardest schools to get into in the country. It being 60/40 undergrad to grad also hurts the “give a shite” level for its students

I’d love to rice football be something more than it is but good luck.

Rice football lacks commitment from the Athletic Department/school. I don't think they even have an equipment manager.

Rice doesn't even have the advantage of TCU/SMU as the highest profile school in it's own city. UH is more the hometown team, but most UH grads are more interested in the longhorns or A&M.

It's essentially an example of a school which doesn't really belong in FBS and will never belong. They don't need the publicity of a football program.

Game day traffic? I live 2 blocks from the stadium and I haven't seen 10 cars parked on our street for a game in the last decade. There is WAY more traffic around the Village when Katy schedules their HS playoff games at Rice.
