I was right there with you when I first heard and thinking about quality of life, etc. But, he's in no pain and we can just work a little harder on clean up duty. I have three granddaughters at home that my wife and I are raising. So, there's ample help to care for him. They got excited when I proposed checking out a wheelchair for him. So, I'm going to try that route for now and see how he does. But, I do understand your answer. I've had to put down another dog once before and it's rough. Thanks for your input.

wheelchair first but not worth the 5500 surgery that is not guaranteed

Agree. With extra help at home I would definitely be going the wheelchair route too.
