Some just die. They deteriorate and fall over and it just looks messy.
We don’t have any problem with it expanding. We cut the grass around it maybe twice a month. Sometimes you’ll have a little shoot come up, but nothing bad.
Also, on those ones that die, they break off sometimes right at the ground and what’s still in the ground is sometimes in the shape of a cup. It holds water and is a little mosquito breeding ground. Might want to watch for that.

Hmm, that's a good thing to consider and I hadn't thought of that before. I have young children and I live in BFE so mosquitoes are bad around our house.
