I know you're upset because your dog is injured, but goddamn, not everyone is Cesar Milan and know exactly how a dog is going to react to another dog. They're very unpredictable sometimes.
You should just accept their apology and offer to pay medical bills and be done with it. Just have to be more careful with the dogs since you share a backyard.

If this was a pit bull, this board would be screaming to have the dog put down.
Aggression should not be tolerated in dogs. If you don’t know how your dog is going to react to another dog, then you’re a bad owner who doesn’t know their own dog.
