I have been jet pilot and mechanic for over 34 years....and Nitrogen in tires has been the standard in aircraft tires for longer than I have been flying. Cars appear to have been doing this (green valve stem caps) for the last 4/5 years. If you dont drive enough to wear the tires out in 4 years....Nitrogen will save you money on tires....it slows the oxygen breakdown of the rubber compounds causing dry rot. Then again ...protecting them from sunlight with RV covers also helps. If you drive 15K miles a year....I wouldnt worry about it. I have access to 6000 lb nitrogen bottle, so I do use it.
