re: 2017-18 Colleges in Louisiana Season Long Basketball Thread

Last night was a SWAC night and SU & GSU combined to go 1-1.
Southern lost to Jackson State 61-65. Jared Sam led the Jags with 22 points & 13 rebounds in the loss. Southern is now 5-12 and 1-3 in SWAC play.
Grambling got their first conference win over Alcorn State 72-61. Anthony Gaston had 16 to lead the Tigers who had 4 players in double figures scoring. Grambling is 5-12 and 1-3 in conference.
Only game tonight is Tulane @ Memphis (6pm - ESPNEWS).
I updated player stats in the OP yesterday. Records are also updated.

The Cajuns, ranked eighth going into the holidays, are now in the #4 spot, best among schools in either the Eastern or Central time zones.
Gonzaga (14-3) received 27 of the 31 first place votes in the poll this week, while West Coast Conference rival Saint Mary’s (15-2) got the other four. New Mexico State (13-3) is third in the poll.
Two other Sun Belt schools, UTA (16) and Georgia Southern (22) are also ranked in the poll. Stephen F. Austin of the Southland Conference is ranked eleventh.
Three Sun Belt coaches, Louisiana’s Bob Marlin, Texas State’s Danny Kaspar and Appalachian State’s Jim Fox, are voters in the poll.
