This system is actually better for consumers. Previously, phone companies charged everyone too much for service and forced 2 year contracts so that they could subsidize the cost of your phone. Now, if you're happy hanging on to your current phone for 4 or 5 years, you're fine to do so, and your plan probably costs less than it did 5 years ago. If you buy an iPhone X and finance it, the cost of the phone plus your plan probably costs about the same as the plan itself costed back when the big carriers were buying the phone for you.

Yeah he's right.

This whole financing phones is bullshite though. Instead of the 2 year contract in exchange for a reduction in price of the phone, you get a 2 year contract where you pay off the full price of the phone.

No he isn't, that is like 10 coffees. If he would have said a few a month he would be a little more correct.

Now I'm sure the person you have in your head is the idiot that buys some non caffeinated milkshake with whipped cream for $5.76 at the window. Yes, that person makes poor purchasing decisions already, they don't need to be told to give something up that they don't need.

People have been drinking coffee for longer than iPhones have been out. The price is still $1k and that is ridiculous for a phone. Especially when a brand new unit that came out 2 years ago and can run on new software costs half that.
