Look, for a couple to stay at the bottom tier All-star that's fine. We are splitting hairs on cost savings here. We can agree to disagree on that.
Staying at one of the other properties on the monorail or within walking distance to Epcot is a hell of a lot more than staying off site. Sometimes that is worth it, other times it is not.
Disney is expensive but can be a lot of fun, its laughable for anyone to argue that its not expensive to stay on site. Even at an all-star they nickel and dime the crap out of you because they have you locked in with basically no other options.
