Then the rep said it will be $85 plus the $7.99 service fee per month. I about went off because the online deal specifically said no extra fees. After about 5 minutes on hold while he "investigated" the problem, he came back and said he clicked a wrong button. So you begin to wonder, how many millions of dollars have these assholes made from "clicking the wrong button" and the consumer didn't catch it.
Yep, funny how these little "accidents" always, without fail, result in the consumer being charged more than expected rather than less, huh? If there are so many buttons to press to arrive at a price, surely once in a while someone will press one that gives the customer a break, huh? Nope.
Like I said, tired of the games. Now I feel like ranting some more.
Nearly every industry has to deal with various taxes and fees and "regulatory burdens", but they don't itemize all that shite when they give you a price. It's all baked in, the cost of doing business. The only thing that should get tacked on at checkout is sales tax, and the only reason I find that acceptable is because it generally varies by location. So why do we as consumers (or, hell, the government for that matter) allow these companies to advertise prices that do not include all of the random fees that they come up with? If your product does not function as advertised without the additional fees, then advertise the price inclusive of fees. Don't we have laws about this? Oh, right, the cable companies write the laws that pertain to them.
Honest to god, AT&T could offer me TV+internet for ten fricking dollars and I wouldn't take it.

This is what pisses me off the most as well. They can offer you $90/month for interent and cable, but even without the taxes and additional fees, it's impossible to watch television with them without adding some type of reciever or card that will costs added dollars.
$90/month? great. 5 tvs? make that $130/month. oh you wanted HD in 2017, make that $140/month. oh you wanted DVR too, make that $150/month. in two years the price will be $250/month and you'll have to call and fake cancel on them to get new pricing. Just irritating, and i don't know how people continue to put up with the aggravation of it.
I honestly don't care that i'm saving money cutting the cord. I do it out of principle b/c cable companies are crocks of shite. It's as if there business model is to continue to add things to your bill hoping you just don't give a shite that your bill went up. They know people will call and bitch about it, and they'll correct it, but they also know that a bunch of people won't care, and they'll make more money b/c of those people.
