For Whom the Bell Tolls is the most American of Hemingway's works - all about the struggle between individualism vs the collective good.
The Catcher in the Rye
Lonesome Dove
The Red Badge of Courage
The Great Gatsby
My Antonia
The Shipping News

No love for The Good Earth? That was one of my favorites. Counting it as American because Buck was an American who grew up in China.

I’ve never gotten through Huck Finn. I’ve tried reading and audiobook. Just bores me.

Listening to East of Eden now. It is so damn long. Steinbeck uses 450 words for each sentence.
I've been listening to it for quite a while and only on part 19 of 26.
